FAQ
A three wheeled bicycle is called a tricycle. Tricycles can be:
- rigid: when the wheels are always perpendicular to the ground and never lean, even when cornering;
- tilting: when the wheels are free to tilt when cornering.
A three wheeled bicycle is tilting if it can laterally lean during cornering like a traditional bike with one front wheel and one rear wheel. A rigid three wheeled bicycle, on the other hand, always remains perpendicular to the ground, both in straight line and when turning.
Thanks to our patented Tilting Front Wheels System (TFWS) the probability of the two front wheels to lose simultaneously the adherence or the contact with the ground is very low with respect to a traditional bike with only one front wheel. In this way, the twin front tilting wheels ensure a dynamic and stable ride and the possibility of a fast turning in the urban commutes even on uneven roads (tram-lines or cobblestones) and on wet or slippery surfaces (due to water, ice, oil or sand).
Yes, you can if you don’t have any disability in the balance sphere. If you have never ridden a bike and you want to start now, you can learn to ride TRIS BIKE in the same way you’d do with an other bike. You need of some time to learn, exactly as for a bike with a single front wheel. Very probably, you could learn to ride TRIS BIKE in less time with respect to a traditional bike since the two front wheels will give you more safety and stability. Anyway, remember that TRIS BIKE is a tilting trike and you can fall down during your learning period as it happens with a traditional bike with a single front wheel.
Yes, you can if you don’t have any disability in the balance sphere. If you feel insecure and you are afraid to ride a traditional bike because of a previous fall or because there are so many potholes in your city or because you’re getting on in age and your reflexes aren’t what they used to be, you’ll find a good friend in TRIS BIKE! Surely the two front wheels will give you a new sense of safety and stability, allowing you to rediscover the joy and beauty of riding a bike!
- STOP AND RE-START at a traffic lights without putting your feet on the ground (EASY STOP function);
- PARK without kickstand (EASY PARK function).
However, TBS can only and exclusively be activated when you are stopping and, for safety reasons, must not be used for any reason while moving.
You can activate the TILTING BLOCK SYSTEM (TBS) by the thumb lever placed on the right or on the left of the handlebar of TRIS depending on the configuration.
The operation of the EASY STOP function is very easy:
- when you are approaching to stop, press both the TBS lever with your right thumb and the brake lever on the left side (or, if the TBS lever is on the left side, operate the TBS lever with your left thumb, and the brake lever on the right side) and keep them pressed simultaneously until you want to restart. Having simultaneously operated both levers you will be able to stay in the saddle without putting your feet on the ground.
- when you wish to re-start, as first release the brake lever, start to pedal and, after one moment, release the TBS lever.
Note: to be able to stay in the saddle without placing your feet on the ground, you must activate the EASY STOP function when you are about in a vertical position with respect to the ground!
If you have to park TRIS, you don’t need kickstand. The operation of the EASY PARK function is very easy. You just need to press the TBS lever fully and insert the red manual park device to lock the tilting movement of the bike. Press fully also the brake lever on the left and insert also this red manual park device to keep TRIS stopped. Just press the levers fully if you want to release manual park devices, taking care to first release the red device of the brake lever and then the red device of the TBS lever (otherwise TRIS will fall down!).
No, you can turn on TBS only when you are approaching to stop or when you have to park your bike. It is dangerous to drive TRIS with TBS on, the EASY STOP function is only an aid to stopping and restarting.
Yes, TRIS BIKE is shipped fully assembled inside a cardboard box of dimension: 152x67x117(H) cm, you just need to open the box and enjoy the ride.
TRIS SPLIT is divisible in two parts and the kickstand is necessary to hold up the rear part.
TRIS SPLIT can be divided in two parts so no shift wire can go from the rear hub to the handle bar.
TRIS BIKE has three loading points: in the rear, in the central and in the front, for a total load capacity of 52 kg or 75 kg depending on the equipment chosen. A very innovative luggage rack centrally placed just behind the head tube allows you to carry a package or laptop bag. A front loading platform and a cargo box of 50 lt allow you to carry shopping or a pet. Thanks to the innovative tilting technology, the loading platform and the cargo box always remain parallel to the ground, even during cornering, avoiding the load from tipping over and providing optimum comfort for the carried pets.
The total load capacity is divided as following:
- rear: 25 kg
- central: 20 kg
- front: from 7 up to 30 kg
In the front you can equip TRIS BIKE with:
- a front basket/rack of load capacity of 7 kg;
- a cargo platform of a load capacity of 30 kg;
- a cargo box of 50 lt and a load capacity of 30 kg
The front platform and the front cargo box turn TRIS BIKE into a compact tilting cargo trike. All models can be equipped with the front cargo platform/box with the exception of the TRIS SPLIT model. This is due to the fact that when the TRIS SPLIT is divided into two parts, the front part can tip over if the cargo platform/box is loaded.
No, the load can’t affect the steering because the motion of the front wheels is independent of the tilting front system. So, you can enjoy the high agility of TRIS even if the bike is fully loaded.
No, the loading platform and the cargo box always remain parallel to the ground even when cornering, so the cargo cannot jump out.
